Effectiveness of platelet rich plasma in accelerating the healing of wounds

Abstract: Chronic and acute non-healing wounds represent a major public health problem, and replacement of cutaneous lesions by the newly regenerated skin is challenging. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a widely used throughout diverse fields of medicine for improving tissue regeneration. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in individuals with chronic and acute non-healing wounds. This prospective study was carried out in the Department of Orthopaedics, Rajawadi Muncipal General Hospital, Mumbai in which a total of 13 patients were enrolled.
